Tea being over, I, nothing heeding Mrs.
Cltubb's warning, essayed a few remarks,
which Mrs. Chubb, merely replied to, and thon
became dumb as Memnou when the sun does
not shine on him.
Again I spake. She put her finger to her
lips, but 1 did not heed the mule sign?the

with an impatient glance, which I pretended
