On Thursday night last, when tbp Demo crats haft-a.mooting at the Cqurt.JDtouEO,about TfM) Union Leaguers, with certain Radical can 't didnte at their head, held a blood and thunder , meeting ut the Rureuu School House. The f "Biirht District" hero turned himself in to a j Volcano, and spouted fireworks at tho colored ^ Democrats of this place. After the meeting was,over,,the,small tea-party, went whooping and yelling through the streets, making fools of themselves generally. Rut whooping and yelling will not turu the tide, which is fust setting iu the right direction. The reign of the Carpet Bag is com ng to an end. T" -. ' . 1 mi mm " 1 Democratic Organization. ? On last Saturday night, the Democrats of this place mot for the purpose of organizing a Prccbaot Club. A large number were in nt tendauce, and on motion Dr. Alex. S. Salley was called to the Chair, and Mortimer Glover Esql, rbq?catcd to act as Secretary. Tho best spirit pervaded the meeting, and a Roll was opened, and those present joined the Club, and fine of our colored voters, .also enrolled his name, as a Democrat. Committees were ap pointed to prepare a Constitution, and also to take measures for tho formation of a Co-opera tive Association among the colored voters of the precinct. Tho meeting then adjourned till Thursday evening 1,-st: at which time there was a much larger attendance than at the pre vious meeting, and a considcrohlc number of colored persons wore present. The Committee on the Con titution made their Report, and with a few. amendments, the Constitution was adopted. The Committee on tho organization of a Co-operative Democeutic Association among theeolored voters of this precinct, re ported that fifteen had signed tho Roll of the Democratic Party j and this Roport was re ceived with much applause. Addresses were made to tho colored persons present which were well received, and produced a marked im pression upon the audience, especially the ad dress of Rev. I. S. K. Lcgarc, in which he fully exposed tho crufty and domineering poli cy of tho Radical Party. During the meeting Jiho Roll of colored members was increased; and after the transaction of other unimportant business, the mooting adjourned. We see signs of day breaking amid tho darkness, which has surrounded our colored friends. Deluded as they have been by vile and unscrupulous party politicians, they arc cgiuuingto realize who arc their truo friends; nd when thoy have the spirit tj shake off the otters of Radical despotism, then in truth ill they arrive at a state of freedom, not ?rely in name, but in reality. The Chairman of the Democratic Conserva tive Stato Central Committee, of Maryland, has called a State Convention, to assemble iu Half inn mi on the 3d of June to elect delegates to the National Convention, which is to momi natc an anti-Radical candidate for the Presi dency. The 'highest rate of spend ever attained iu telegraphic transmission in this.country was made on Wednesday evening, between Boston and Providence. Mr. P. II. Burns, ehumpipn of New York and New England, stationed at Boston, transmitted two thousand seven hun dred and thirty-one words in one hour. The Young Men's Christian Association of I Now York refused a gift of 85000 from the State Legislature because they thought that "all State appropriation to religious bodies arc contrary to the spirit of free institutions, and opposed to tbo voluutary Christian system to which our organization looks lor support." The plan of exporting the suffering poor, it appears, has recently been adopted by Great Britain. The departure of one hundred ami fifty emigrants front London for Quebec, on April 20th, is announced. They are described as mechanics who wero out of work, and who woro sent out as "objects of public charity" by the London East End Emigration Com mittee. Tho Now York Legislature has adjourned, after refusing to submit the now constitution lately framed by a convention in that State to a vote of the people.
