For tho present/the manure should be spaded
or ploughed, in, and its thorough incorporation

is again .worked ovQr... It is now time to make
arrangements as to what the different parts of
the gaiaen^stiail be planted with during the en
suing spring mid summer. Our rule is to havo
two crops1 of tho1'same class follow each other.
Tho system of rotation must depend upou tbo
requirements of tho family to be supplied, and
? tho quantity of land at disposal for the purpose.
-Whoro it is necessary to have several crops on
the ground at the same time, celery will
be found to' bo an excellent preparation
for peas,' carrots, parsnips or cauliflowers,
which may be - succeeded by onions, lettuce,

Lettuce, in frames, should be kept freo from
weeds and decayed loaves, admitting an abun
dance of air during fine days. Succession
crops Bhonld'now'ho'sown, and young plants
planted in a gentle but-bed for planting out a

Hot-beds-may be made towaids the end of
the month for the purpose of sowing a little of
ovcry kind of early vegetables. Early crops
of lettuce; radishes, carrots, &c., may be got by
sowing upon well, sheltered borders, with the
help of a slight protection from cold north und
cast winds.
Old apple and pear trees may be greatly im
proved by judicious pruuing nnd by applying
manure at tho extremities of their roots, and
. by a good {op-dressing of well rotted barn-yard
manure
Farm Implements.?Let these bo over
hauled arid and repaired, and such new ones
provided as you may heed. It is poor econo
my to work with a bad tool, and us bad to havo
nu insufficiency. . Lot them be supplied before
you nro ready to use them.
Grain Fields.?See that grain fields ure
not trespassed on,.especially when the ground
is soft. If they will admit of boing fed down,
let it not bo done till spring, when the frost is
out of tJ)o,>g^undrT--then'.tranjpliiig will be
useful in packing tbo up heaved soil.
Clover JFjiiiLDB.-^Clover fields should bo
especially protected from the tread of stock.
In soft wenthcr tho ground is seriously injured
by tho trampling, and in nil weather the crowns
of the plants liable to bo destroyed, doing much
damage to tho crop*. Tinder no circumstances
should a 'young clover field be trod by fctock
until there is a sufficient, bite to feed thciu

operation, but tho roller will do useful service
where the frost is out of the ground.

work of this sort should l>e done. The fencing
material required should bo cut and prepared
for tho fence, an<J if possiblo, hauled while the
ground is firm, to the place where it is needed.
