death of Rev. Joseph Cross, is incorrect.
This distinguished divine has been afflicted
with a severe at tack of Fever, but has reeovor
cd. T ie has suffered the loss of a much -loved
daughter, during the epidemic, at Houston,
Texas, where ho ifl now residing.

On Friday, the first day of tho week, our market
opQncd with an activo demand, and with n light
Mock. Prices improved to the extent of j^A-Jo. on
our quotation at the close of hist week. The do
mnnd continued throughout Saturday, and news of
nn improvement iu the Liverpool market canned
holders to advance Ihoir rat en, the sales being con
fined chiefly to the better grades.
^On Monday there watt a good deal of irregularity
in the market, and huyers and sellers not able to
agree on prices. The sales made, however, vrcro at
a tout rates of the day previous. On Tuesday buy
ers operated freely at u decline of Ac. Wednes
day the market was ipiite active, with a furthor de
cline of }e. On Thursday there was a good enquiry
. with an additional decline of \ to Jo. The sales for
the week sum up about 8,000 bales. The market
closing at the following quotations:
