On motion of Mr. McCalla, the temporary
orgn dzutiou wns then made permanent
Col. J. T. Gaston, of Aiken, moved to
hmo a convention of Reformers to nominate
n Reform candidate for Governor and l.ieuteuaut
Uovernor. Tbe motion was carried
almost unanimously.
A committee wns then appointed by the
chair, consisting of C. M. Ktird, M. t,. Mauldio,
J. W.Stokes, I). K. Nnrris and 'J', L.
Ganti, on rules and rcgu'ations and manner
of holding said convention. The convention
thon took a recess until u p. in.
At 5 o'clock ihe convention renssemblul
and shortly thereafter ibe committee on
plans entered the hall and submitted the
following report:
We, the undersign? ' committee beg leave
to stthinit tl.o following report:
I That a c nvctitiou far (lie nomination
of State olhcors tie held in the city of Columbia
on the 14th duy of August, 1811-1.
2. That said convention be composed of
delegates to be e ectcd by conventions to tie
held in each county on the '.hit any of August,
18'.M, each county being entitled to
double as many delegates its it is entitled to
representatives in both branches ol tbe
General Assemb'y.
3. That the county s inventions .'foresaid
he composed of delegates elected by the
various Reform clubs in the county, each
club to send one delegate for ea^li tweu'y
Jive Reformers or majority fraction thereof.
In those counties where there are no distinct
Reform oIiiIm the Reform members of
each c ub shall he called by the Executive
Reform Committeemen to meet at the usual
plare of meeting and elect delegates as
aforesaid, to the county convcutiou. For
the purposes of said election the clubs
aforesaid shall be called to meet on the lib
day of August, 18m. At such meeting no
member shall participate except such at

pledge themselves to abide by and support
tho Reform licKcl of the State Reform convention

4. That each Reform candidate for Governor

and Lieutenant Governor. It meets the
reasonable demands of the people to see and
hear and question every nnii who aspires to
lheir suffrage, ami looks t the selectieu of
that Refoim candidate who gets the most
Reform vote-t. It provides for nti open lield
for all who aspire to pub ic preferment, and
it is a safe plan.

of any Bawdy or disorderly house, room or
tenement in the Town of Union shall be unlawful
and shall oe punished byafiue of uot

BE it ordained 1'J the Town Conncil of
Union, in ihe Stn e of South Carotin*,
now met and Hitting, and hy authority of the
same.
Sre. 1. That n tax of 2} mills upon
erery dollar of the value of a'l Heal Estate,
personal properly and s'ock in trade, is
hereby levied to meet the ordinary expeniea
of the Municipal Government of tlie said
town for the fiscal year commencing the 1st
day of May, 1804.
Site. 2- That a tax of 2 mills upon every
dollar of the value of nil Real Estate, personal
property and Mock in trade is hereby
levied to retire the school bonds, during fiscal
year, beginning 1st of May, 1804.
Sec. 3. That a tax of mill upon every
dollar of the value of all Ileal Estate, personal
property and mocks in trade is hereby
levied to luccl the interest on school bonds
during the fiscal year brg'uniog 1st of May
