The invention is known as the Rembert roller compress. It is intended to take the place of both the plantat:on press and the big compress. It is simplo in principle and requires but little power, but turns out a bale of less bulk, greater density and trorc smooth and even exterior than the ltrge steam compress mnkes. As the ottoo is ginned it pisses between the rollers which press the air out of it and n.ako the cotton into a soft, smooth web which falls in layers inte the press. Substituted for the ordinary p'antntion press it will take the cotton directly from the gin and turn cut a five hundred pound balo as soiaii or smaller thin a bale from the powerful hydraulic presses. Although it requires one more tie than the old press, it makes the bale so much le?s in bulk that ten feet in tioi and a yard of bagging are saved on every bale. t ?
