Dut he sesms to hare gotten very tenderfooted, and with a heart possossed of some very evil motive, conceived the idea to try his 'prentice ban* on mc, nnd paint my character before the world as black at-possib e. If his article only wont right around here, 1 would not bother to reply. As to his charges of my having any malice, is extremely false, and he is judging, certainly, by himself, for if any article was ever written with more malicious iotent than his, I have never read it, for he most glaringly tried t> mislead the public, by wilfully niie ^Uvi>?g ui*, ?uu waiting assert ions lie osnnot prove. He most wilfully and maliciously misqno'eJ me by quoting mo as saying, "It is impelled by greed." and "to gloat over the almighty dollar," etc., when what I said was as plain as print could make it, that "sucA hunting hat a t ndency to lead the publio to believe that it is impelled cto , and , iWltaJe gloat" etc. And further on lie saysagain, tfflSt I siid lie was impelled by greed, which I say is absolutely false These wilful misquotations and unfoanded nssertions savors strongly of mnl c om intent, and it is a wonder that he had no remorse of son cisoce, holding the position before the world be now preeumte to hold, while ho vat penning or after ho wrote that article. It seems that hie idea of what constitutes a private interview is not only crude, but wanting in the essentia'sof gentlemanly deportment.?
