Thayer applied lo the 8apreme
Ceort for a quo warranto restraining Gover/'
nor Boyd from exercising the functions of
his office. Judge Maxwell elated lo Mr.
Thayer's attorney that inasmuch ae their
petition admits that Boyd is Governor, their
Eiitlon is untenmble. Maxwell believed
vd to be Governor aed refused the writ.
The Supreme Court then adjourned till
Tuesday.
The board of public lande and buildings
ia in session and has notified Thayer to vaeate
the Governor's rooms or tbe board
would offic'ally designate another room to be
the Governor's headquarters. Thayer is
looked in bis room with friends. At 12.80
Thayer requested the crowd to stand back
from his door and said : *T will not surrender
until the proper tribunal declares that 1
shall."
Governor Boyd has ordered Adjt Cole to
report to him for directions and to disperse

State House and the mail carrier, Lane,
have gone over to Governor Boyd, and it is
said that the gas and steam will be turned
off in Governor Thayer's office.

,'guano inspectors iscomplc'c, by the appointment
of Mr. Mackcy, of O.angcburg, ii is
iiindcrstood that thej will begin work on
.Monday next. The valuable pamphlets isnacd
by the department of ngriculture last
year are now in great demand by the furmers.
Many requests are made for the publications
containing the noalyses of the different
brands of fertilisers of this State and
of the imported material. Quite a number
of brands have been blacklisted, and this is
extremely important for the fanners to know.
The department advertises them of the defective
fertilizers and neither the department
nor the Clemsou College trusters can
be he'd responsible for purch-isos by mistake.
Although the black list is on tile with the
Cleinsan College trusters, the publication of
them in a newspaper is neither the safe nor
the proper thing. Prof. Hardin uud his assistants
will have now a long term of hard
-work. The guano inspectors will begiu to
:-aend in the samples in great numbers next
week and the work wi 1 be required to be
- done proirp'ly.
