Editor.?In the last issue of the Timks we notice the friendly comrcversy, if controversy it may bo culled, betweeen yourself and "Gleam," in regard to the effect of license or no license, in the town of Gaffney. From the tenor of your remarks strong advocates of the cause of temperance; one disclaiming that he ever touched a drop of the soul-destroying stuff ; the other proving by his words that approximate "the smell of fire and brimstone" as nearly as the English lauguage will permit, that he will get no "quick through ticket" on whiskey's account. Yet we arc sorry to cee you two champions of the grand cause of tempcr&nec differing all because in your editorial you called the little town ef (laffney a Bedlam" and has taken the council to task for grouting license for the sale of intoxicating liquors. Now, had our friond "Gleain" only consulted his dictionary and reflected a little as to the meaning of Bedlam, which Wobstor defines as "a mad bouse, or a place where crsxy persons are kept," he inustha*e readily observed that the word was usod by you in a very vague and indefinite manner.
