that one man with this yankee machine

the fact that an Alliance in Laurens

merchants not to sell pistols or pistol

great ilral of the lawlessness in this ISfato
ns in many others, is due to men's carrying
pistols, l'istois aud whiskey are the two
greatest enemies to domestic peace and
social order.
We note another good resolution adopted
by the Juscsvillc Alliance of Union County,
ss follows:
"Resolved, by this, the Jonesvillo Alliance,
that we will endeavor to give to our farms
more attention the presont ye vr than we
have in the past ; and that we will idle no
time, that we con profitably spen l on our
' farms.
, ''Resolved, further, That we use a'l the

to meet our obligations promptly."

here to-day of the mortality among
the Indians in the country east and south of
Oklahoma, from influenza. Indian Agent
>^^iie, from the Shawnee nation, estimates
nearly one hundred of that tribe have
within a week from I lie disease, about
two-thirds of them being children. The
Kickapoos, Creeks, Iowa", i'ottawotamies,

condition is said to be pitaiblc.
Tlic stricken tribes seem to have lost heart
when the grip first appeared, among them.
Medicine men ministered to their wants and
their cares, and they only seem to have aggravated
the disease, and since the deaths
have become so numerous the Indians refuse
all offers of assistance, and just lie down and
die.
