of County Commissioners trill examine
the roads throughout tho county,
between the 1st and the 10th day of September;
and wo further give notice to Road 1
Overseers that they will be held to a strict
account for any neglect of duty, and for all
bad work (?n the roads.
Some ovorseors already offer the excuse
that the roads are too hard to work, but
such excuse will not be received, for surely
the roads have beeu soft enough tho past
two month's, and Ovcrsoers should have
taken advantage of the favorable condition.
We mean business, and we mean to have
good roads in Union County, if tho law will
give us the power to have them put in good
condition.

THE frequent complaints made to us
lately of the bad condition of the roads
in all parts of the county, demand our
prompt attention, and wo hereby peremptorily
notify all Road Overseers in Union
County, to oall out the hands in their
several seotions at once, and put the roads
iu the best possible condition, by the 1st day
of September next.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED,
That you work the bad parts of the road,
first, and make them safe and passable
!< limediately.
GOOD ROAD WORK DEMANDED.
We have determined to have better and
more permanent roau work hereafter, and
hereby giro notice to all Overseers that, in
the conscientious disoharge of our duty, wo
will not tolerate any shabby road working,
but in every ease whore such kind of work
is done, wo shall have you reported for
indictment.
The roads must be drninel, and raised
in the middle, and properly graded.
Take Notice ! We mean exactly what we
say, and intend, as far as lies in our power
to have better roads.
