28.?Some time ago Adolph Water began
advertising himself in Vienna as Sonor Jahw

to some fabulous height in a balloon and
drop back to earth under a paraohute.
About a week before tho date of the proposed
ascension Sonor Jahw, alias Weter
began to lite extraordinarily high; He
bought great quantities of jewelry, laces
and silks for his wife, and wines and flue
eigars galore for himself. He ate at the
best hotels and ordered olothes of the most
fashionable tailors. He told the jeweller
and the tailor and the droismaker and the
liquor dealer Uiat he would settlo aooounts
with them immediately after the ballun as*
oentdon, from which he expected to realise
^nuoh money. With credulity oharaeterisyf
German tradesmen they

On June 1 Sooor Jabw invited tho city
offiolaie of Vienna to obscrro his final rehearsal
before the tbo exhibition. In the

balloon, as high as a 100-foot rope, made

him to Austrian soil and blew away. This

tradesmen have seen of Sener Jabw.

Land Frauds in tub West.?St. Paul,
June 27.?Last Saturday a real estate man
named Stensgnard negotiated a loan of
$4,500 with D. A. Jenney, of Harrisburg,
Pa., giving as security a mortgage on a
block of land valued at about $15,000,
owned by a wealthy brewer of Milwaukeo
named Uhlein. Stensgnard produood a
deed showing that he had purobased the
property of Uhlein for $12,000. It turned
out that the deed was a forgery. Stensgnard
protested that he purchased the prop
onjr iruiu a man wnom no supposed was
Uhle'n.
In connection wiili this real estate fraud
it is uow learned that this is only on* of a
series of frauds, and that a gang of real eetate
sharks and swindlers has long existed
in this oity. Besides Steensgaard the polico
in this city to-day arrested T. L. Draper,
a local lawyer, Avery Chad wick, L.
Partello, T. M. Cummings, Sidney Carvey
and George Kingsley. E. A. Carlson was
arrestod at Anoka on a telegraphic order
from this city. A number of forged deeds
and mortgages were found in their possession
and others in their rooms at the time
of arrest. Bonds were set at $1,500 for all
but Stensgaard, but no bondsmen satisfactory
to the Judgo could be found.
