Section 1. That a tax of two (2) mills t upon every dollar of the value of all Real ; estate, Stock in trade and personal property t in the town of Union, be and the same t is hereby levied, to meet the ordinary expenses of the municipal government of said town, for the fiscal year commencing Sept. 10th, 1889. Sko. 2 That the sum of one dollar and fifty cents be fixed as a commutation for street and road duty, and the said sum is hereby required to bo paid by each and ever y able-bodied male person between the ages of eighteen ami fifty-five years old, who reside within tho incorporate limits of said tewn. Sec. 8. That the Town Treasurer do proceed at once to collect the Taxos herein levied, and that he shall keep hie books 1 open from the first day of May next until I the first day of June next, after which time 1 he shall proeeed, by distress or otherwise, r ae prescribed by law, te collect suoh as remain unpaid, with a penalty ef twenty per cent, added. Be it enacted-by the Senate and llcuae of Representatives of the Static of 8outh Carolina, now met and titling in General Assembly, and by the authority of the same, That in all cases where uuimproved land which has not been upon the tax books since the fiscal year commencing Nevemberl, 1874, and which are not en the forfeited list, shall at any time before the 1st day of October, 1888, be returned to the County Auditor for taxation, the said Auditor be, and is hereby instructed to assess the same and to cuter it upon the duplicate of the fiseal year, commencing November 1, 1887, with the simple taxes of that year. Sic. 2. That all such lands as may be returnod to the Auditor for taxation between the first day of October, 1888, and the first I day of October, 1889, shall be assessed and charged with the simple taxes of the two fiscal years commencing, respectively, en the first day of November, 1887, and the first day cf November, 1888. Sxc. 3. That as soon as practioable after the passage of this Act the Comptroller general is directed to furnish a copy of the same to each Auditor in the State, and the Auditors are required to publish the same in caeh of their county papers, ence a week for three months during the year 1888, and for the same period of time during the year 1889, and the cost of such publication shall be paid by the county treasurer, upon the order of the county commissioners, out of the ordinary county tax last collected.
