The Augusta Division of the 3 C'e Boad will be BuiltBlicksbubo. March 10.?The Union people may new rest assured of thefaot that tho Augusta Division of the Three C's railroal will be built in the near future. Dr. Black and other managers of the roal here have reeeived orders from the officiate at headquarters, to draw up the contracts,'wbioh will be let at an early day. P I will state here that the building of the Augusta Division is actually necessary to the life and prosperity of the main line in this State, in that it will control an extensive business in the Western part of the Stale. The officials of the Three Cs road held a meeting in Charleston recently, at which it was decided to locate the railroad shops at this place. Ten thousand dollars worth of machinery has been ordered for the same. This will, in all probability make an increase of five hundred in our nomilation. Two freight trains ran into each other at Clifton on Saturday morning the 16th inat. Several persons were injured and two killed. Among the viotims of death was Mr. Q. Mc. D. Biggins, of this place. The deceased was a young man just in the bloom of youth; ( steady, strictly moral, and was highly thongbt of by everybody here. He was employed as a clerk in Dr. Whiteside's drug store. Quito a number of citizens assembled at the depot to get a peep at the Mexicans; as well as their fine coaches. Jones, formerly of Massachusetts, but now of this place, who has heretofore bcon general manager of tbe upper division, was recently appointod Superintendent of the whole line, from Camden to Kutherfordton. A kind of epidemic of sore eyes lias been raging hcc for tlio past three weeks, and ^ but few have escaped this painful and troublesome disease. Iter. J. A. White has bcSn suffering intensely for several days with inflammatory rheumatism in the elbow, but is now much b attor. Negroes are holding mass meetings nightly, and negro orators and preachers are urging them to colonize. The negro preachers of this section are especially nctive in the matter, and issued a circular to-day calling a meeting to organize the "North Carolina Emigration Association" for tho purpose of securing . organized action toward colonizing all the negroes in the State in Arkansas, where they are offered lands for a trifle. The circulars say that the white people don't want them here, and they havo determined to go. It is complained that the election law, the . l? ?n,1 nll..r to,... 1... . I.~ I-.,. Payscur, a grocer and distiller, haa for some time been suspecting his wife of being criminally intimate with his clerk.
