Tiir Grkknvillk and Western Railroad.?
The Ureenvillo and Western Narrow Gauge
Railroad is now, says tho Greenville Ntict, an
absolute certainty, and the only question is the
time of its completion that cannot be later than
next Summer, and may be early in the Spring.
The road is 120 miles 'long from Augusta to
Greenville. The grading of 80 miles will be
completed within three weeks, and of the remaining
34 miles 22 is now under contract,
leaving only the 12 or 14 miles between Greenville
and Piedmont open.

Sep. 17?7.10 P. M. Quite a strong shock-was
felt here this morning at twenty minutes post
1 o'clock, It lasted several seconds and shook
the buildings generally. Brown's Hotel was
apparently lifted and moved on its pillars nearly
two inches further North, and most of its brick
pillars show fresh crooks from the strain. This
hotel is sixty-two feet long and forty-two foet
wide. Brioks fell from some of the chimneys
and sheds.
At 2 o'clock this morning another shock was
7cry sensibly felt, which was followed by slight
vibrntions at fifteen minutes after 2 and at halfpast
2 o'clock, with two very alight tremblings
since.
At Ingleside, below Summerville, the Fehrenbach
mansion was further damaged by yesterday's
shaking.?-Col. llrgtiter.
