Union, in the State of South Carolina, now met

That any person who shall sell any Liquor.-",
spirituous, Vinous or Malt, within the Town of
Uuiou, shall, upon trial and conviction, he fined,
'or each and every offence under this Ordiuance,
lot less than twenty (20) dollars and not more
linn fifty (60) dollars, or be imprisoned not less
dinn ten (10) or more than twenty (2U) days,or
jotli, nt the discretion of theCouncil. Provided
hat nothing herein contained shall prevent the
illing, by any licensed ldrnggist, of any prcscripion
in good faith, made by any liccuseJ prncticng
Physician ; and providee further, that no
prescriptions containing intoxicating liquor, in
my quantity, shall be filled unless a licensed
practising Physician shall endorse thereon over
lis own signature a certificate in writing that
lie prcscriptiou is for use in sickness only, and
is necessary.
Sec. 2. That nil prescriptions containing in*
oxicating liquor in any quantity, filled by any
Druggist, shall, together with the record of the
names of persons to whom delivered and for
whose use tilled, be exhibited by such Dmggist
jn the first Monday in each aud every calendar
month, to the Council for inspection ; and upon
failure so to do. each and every Druggist shall,
upon trial and conviction, be fined, for each and
jvcry offense, not less than twenty (20) dollars,
tnd not more than fifly (60) dollars, or be imprisoned
not less than ten (10) or more than
twenty (20) days, or both, at the discretion of
the Council.
