Mr. Editor i?You will pleaso allow mo, one more sorehead reply lo some few articles that have appeared in your paper recently. 1st. 1 see one correspondent says that news, paper scribbers commence just before anelection t hat he may be noticed and that he may be marked down as one that wants office. I judge the author knows mcro about that than the writer of this, or ho certainly would not have thought of it, for I can say with cander that 1 want no * olflco.* My only object is to unito tho Democratic vote on some plan that all may lio harmonised and lead to certain success, ltesiilen if (he above be true, who must write? If a man ? writes at all lie is su office seeker; if he don't % Write, your paper ie without news and the public sentiment is not disseminated throughout the various sections o( the County. 2d. "A word for couventious," calls for some notice; you say plain enough that if a voter entertains a different view to the above he is a disappointed aspirant, a sorehead or office seeker. If that be true, then the democrats of this Townetlip are all soreheads, office seekers, aspifttits &c. I think the Assertion is too broad, <C6V one voter has as much right to his opinion as another ; and further, if a man disapproves of the convention plan, is proof that he is incompetent for office ; abubblor can speak in publio and show off. And I notice farther, that those who opposc'the convention plan have superiors. It is asserted that it is so. If so, my Township all have superiors, and further, my Township wants all the offices the convention lias so nobly filled. I don't think, if the Primary Election sysfem is adopted, that we will have but two candidates?one for re-election to the Legislature and one for County Commissioner. I don't think this Township wants only a pro rata share of offices?and those according to qualification. We ask for nothing but justice and our rights, dnd this we expect to contend for. This is the first time, since Gen. Lee's surrender, that the voters of Union County have had an opportunity to vindicate their rights at (ho ballot box. We notice the plan of the Executive Committee. There were only nine present?five for Convention and four for Primary Election. The Committeo was so nearly equally divided, why not have had a majority and a minority Circular, so that both sides'could.aee tbo true issue, as it ought te be. and that this sorehead, ignorant party might bo convinced of their error and become Convention men before the fid day a. of July and fall in ranks with the intelligent. T A word to olubs : Get all the Democrat io voters possible to sign your Clubs: and I say remind them that their fore-fathers left them the best government the sun ever shone upon, from the days of Washington up to the year 1800, and that nil men were allowed to run for office that wished to. The only difference between the primary and the old plan, is that it unites us upon the general election, so that the State Ticket will get a full support from the County. You will see in the Circular from the Executive Committee (a portion of them) tlireo or four big bugbears ; one of them is that we will have so many candidates that it is hardly possible for a majority to be had. Was this the case in the days of our fathers that a candidate had to have a majority vote before he could take his scat of office! No, and no need of,it now ; and this is one chance to give the soreheads and aspirants, and offico seckersn chance to see how unpopular they are in other sections of tho County, and, as the old odugo is, "break thorn from suckiDg eggs." One of the other objections is that two or three largest Townships will units and put in ' their own candidates?in other words, log roll. This is just as absurd as it is unjust. Hampton's Visit to Hatrs.?Washington, June 0.?Governor Hampton's visit to Hayes had for its object the release ef several persons imprisoned at Albany, convicted nnder the Ku Kluz prosecutions, whom Gov.
