A Murderer Sentenced in Chester.?Chester,
8. C., January 20.?Thecaseof John Smith,
colored, for killing Bergen Conger, white, who
was most brutally murdered at this place en the
niglit or the 28th of 'leceiuber last, was decided
yesterday boforo Judge Mackoy. The jury was
out only a minute, and returned a verdict of
' murder. Smith was immediately sentenced to
be hung on Friday, Frbruary 1st. Smith, on
> bis trial, denied knowing anytfting of the affair.
This evening, in the Jail, he unide an open concession
of his guilt. Conger was a native of
Sew Brunswick, N S., and had just arrived
ere.

SARTOR, and that the said BOB SARTOR has
fled from justice:
