Lieutenant-Governor Wilts and Speaker Bush, of the Nicholls Hoysa, with many members of the Assembly, invited lien. S. S. Cox to address them. The desire of Patterson was communicated to Governor Hampton, who said he , - would be pleased to see him. Whereupon an hour was appointed, and Patterson called. lie assured Governor*Hampton that while he had antagonized his claim to the Gubernnloral seat, .oat now since his right to the oflice had been virtually established by the action of the President and Cabinet, he was willing to forego all factious opposition, and aoceptthe situation and do what hecotill to promote the welfare of South | Carolina. Governor Hampton said ho was pleased to hear icli expressions from him, and that ho would, as Governor, administer the oflice for the gMd of the whole people, and with no specinl reference to parties. Miss Louisiana Gordon.?Washington, April -4.?Senator Gordon has a young dsughtsr, born four days ago, at Willard's Hotel. He first contemplated naming it Carolina, in honor of the liberation of the Palmetto State. The foot that ho has slready a daughter named Carrie caused a reconsideration.
