* Strkbt-Car Dialogur ?It was in a
street oar that was comfortably filled.?
There was a blockade in the street, and the
*>car waa brought to a stop. The Attention
of the occupants was attracted by a spraee
man, who sat in about the middle of the oar,
and who was poking in the sides with fab
cane a bright little boy on the opposite
% side.
The boy sat by the sido of a stern looking,
coarse-featured woman.
"Your boy ?" asked tho young man.
Tito-woman nodded.
"Handsomo boy ?"tho young man said,
looking round to ico that all were listening.
- "He will be President one of these days."
.The woman was as imperturbable as a
sphinx.'
i'Yes, you know that when Grant was a
small boy, like this one, the people all told
hif parents that he was a handsome child
and would one day be President."
"Well, all I've got to say is, if that ere

To Make a Good Koad.?Two things
are necessary to a good road. First, a

word which I could not pronounce beforo
my mother without offending her." He
kept his resolution, and became a pureminded,
noble, honored gentleman. His
rulo and example are worthy of imitation

ever utter a word that she would not wish
her mother to hear Iter apeak.
