Lamented Death?.
Our community, in its midst and con?
nections, has recently been deeply sad?
dened by a succession of deaths.
First came a telegram from Florida,
which told us that Mr. W. PRIESTLY
Cf'i.rr.oucil had breathed his InBt. This
sad intelligence bore with it a shock as
well, inasaiuch os he had but recen: ly
left Sumter, on his return borne from a
somewhat extended Northern and West?
ern tour, enjoying apparently improved
health. We kucw him well, and prized
tits Iriefldiiln'p Tjuch. Uuusaully genial
in spirits aud amiable, he was grea.ly
beloved and admired by a large cirole
of relatives and friends.
' y ext was'the^affifetive announcement
of the death of Mr. ?Tui.ius C. MCLAU
BIN, at his home near Stateburg-a
young mao of high and sterling chanc?
ier, ?wd of much promise as a useful cit
i reo. Ile had suffered long, and pa?
tiently, amidst the devoted attention ot
friends, and the tender ministrations
that affection could bestow. But he
was called from earth away to his heav >n
!y reward, and his sorrowing %urviviog
d?ar ones have a good hone.
Again the sad tale of death went fr Dm
lip to lip. And now an estimable h dy
goes through long deep waters of bodi?
ly affliction to the sweet rest of beavan
-the pious widow of the laie Col. G.
S. C. DESCHAMPS. Here indeed is i he
loss of the living thc immeasurable g*in
ot the departed, and a whole comtru
nity extends its sympathy.
Still again comes to relatives here
the painful sears from Mississippi that
Mr. FB/fcpqis G< SPANK is DO ?ore.
In early life he espoused the cause of
Christ, and many year? ago, although
in his youth, filled a deacon's office in
the Presbyterian Church of this place
