Shoals is a complete wreck. The crew
are allsate and sound on L-mg Island,
where refuge was taken. Tile report is
that there is not a remnant ot the light
ship to tell the tale of the wreck.

with rain in torrents, truck this vicini- t
ty last night, giving none of the usual
warnings. 'Ilie weather was very sul
try tip to abolit 11 o'clock. Then a I
slight breeze sprang up, within ten o
minutes a full-liedge(l hurricane was o
blowing bringing with it a deluge of s
rain that made a new record. Tfiere t
were nearly four inches of' rainfall on
the record for St ptember 22 and 23, 1882,
bit last night's rainfall exceeded it by
four inches.
Cellars and basmients along the west p)
and south streets (the river fronts) were ti
