A Trip Down the Country.

what Is going on In the "low lands," I wil
give thorn a few dots gathered.on a recei
trip to Edgefleld.
On the 17th of Jujy I boarded the trait
at Piedmont at W,:35 a. m. and arrived a
Troy at 7:15 p. i. This Is a beautifu
siall town of 200 inhabitants, with sevell
churches, the same iumber of stores, sev.
cral cotton gins, gl ist and saw mills. On
gin packed 1,000 bales of cotton last sAs.
on. This is a level country, only one sinall
b ill about the size of Atial mountain in
- siglht of tihe villago. The fin-mers all rise
cotton exclusively. Th'ley cannot raise corn
onl account of tle rust, wlich littacks it
about laying by time, and it tassels out
when about, waist high.
