7o the Editor of The News and Cou
rier: I respectfully ask the uso of
your columns to call the attention of
the farmurm and citizens of' Iho State
to the following regolution, passed
without a dissenting voice at the last
regular Convention of the Fariers'
A-saclation on December 1, 1887.
"Resolved, That it is n'. the pur
pose of the farmers of the St ato( to
make their organi*-uioin a political
bosly, hostile to other classes, nor is
it their intention to attack the integ
rity of our State officer-, n]or their
policy to arraign or dictate to the
Legislature."
It would seem clear that the Far.
mers' Association Ioes not authoriz
such an extravagant arraign -nent of
the State Governmentas is contain ed
inthe recent "manifesto" of their exe
cutive committee. Ca pt. Shell hinsel f
was a tieinber of the ommitteon which
reported it favorably, and voted for
the resolution. In t.he face of this
determined policy of the farmora, t he
executive committee of' the A-socia
tion calls a separate political Nomii
nating Convention, and I must, think
it not only unnecessary but totally
unauthorized. '"he strongest, crgni
zation of farmers now in Lhe StiLe is
the Alliance. That b>dy doei ntb
