enice of Elders an<l Deacons met at 11 A.
M. Aug. 8th, in tihe Presbyterian church
at Liberty, and closed its 5(ession the 9th.
It wasq opened with a sermon by the Rev.
A. P. Nicholson. All the churches in
tihe county were represented. Several
interesting essays worn road. Tho dis
oussions elicited by these essays were
free, pleasant and profitable. The meot
ing was one of unusual interest and prof
it, and it was to be regretted that owing
to the county canvass in progesos at tihe
timo, the attendance of church officers
was not larger. The public however
turned out well, and shlowed a keen in
terest in all the proceedings, which wee
of such a character that good must be the
result.
We were delighted in having with us
our honored brother, the Rev. A. P.
4 Nicholson, who together with Dr. Riley
took an active part in all tIhe dhiscussions,
which added greatly to the interest of the
Occasionl; and we shall over feel greateful
to Mr. Nicholson for bis practical, fer
vent, and eloquent address deliverod
during the opening exercises.
Two additional Vice-Presidents were
elected. The Executive Committee in
its report submitted a clonstitutionl, which
was taken up seriatim, minended and ad
optel. This committee will b)ear in mind
thlat these meetings are semi-annu'd and
that it becomessies duty to arrange a pro
