They are having a lively time over
the "wet" and "dry" question in
Greenville. The News gives both
sides a fair showing, though it seems
to incline a little to the "wet" side of
the question.
Joseph 1). Ferguson who made his
escape from the Lunatic Asylum two
or three years ago, will be sont back
to that institution in a short while.
Mr. J. C. Griffin's cotton in and
near the corporate limits of our town
is looking well. It has beon properly
cultivatod, which is moro essential
than guano,and with seasons will mako

In some sections of this County,
we lboar that moderately ,good rains
have fallen, but at this place we are

era, just enough to run, have fallen in
the lnst four weeks. Corn and cotton
atre not yet much hurt, but garden
vegetables have suffored very much.
Rev. Hugh McLees preached one
of his practical and logical sermons at
this place last Sunday. The fourth
Sabbath in next month is communion
day, and services wvill commence on
Saturday before.
The McSmith Music House, Groon
Willo S. C. is one of the gr and institu
tions of this section. Every thing in
the way of musical instruments, sheet
music &c., can be purchased from that
house just as cheap as any where else.

ganization of the Pickens Gradec
School will be the appointment of j

members to be elected from residente
within the corporate limits of the towri
or persons owning property and doing
business within the same. These Trus
tees will be selected with a view to un.
Ite the interests and efforts of all in the
support of the sohoolland to give every
part of the incorporation a represent
ative voice in its affairs. Their juris,
diction, duties and powers will be de,
fined in the constitution of Rules and
Regulations which will hereafter be
adopted for the conduct of the school.
Let it be remembered that this is to be
emphatically a public school, or rather
a school for the public and not the
school of any denomination, party or
faction of the people, much loss the
school of any one, two, or half a doz
on individuals.
