UNANIMoUS.-The voters of Dacus.
villo Township gave Hampton a
unanimous vote on the 7th of last
.November, and Dr. A. J. Anderson
guarantees that they will be as unan,

death of Mr. James McMahan, which
Qecurred at his residence near Easley

McMahan was a member of the Pres

stantial citizens of the County.

THE hAMPToN TAX-Capt. Berry
was at this place on last Thursday,
Friday and Saturday, for the purpose
'of collecting the 10 per cent tax. As
the paper containing the notice did
nlot come out until the day the books
were opened, and as most of our pa
taaos in the country did not come to
town for their paper until Saturday,
not ruany knew that the tax was be,
ing collected. Quite a number, how,
ever,- paid on 'Saturday, and Capt.
Berry had a pretty fair sum to remit
on last Monday.

"bulldoser shobld happen to stray this
way and attempt to follow his trade,
we would give him snob a dodo of
"blue pills" that he could hardly carry
them.
We are waiting, so lmpationtly fbr
the end, We have waited, waited,
waited, until our hearts are almost
"sick with hope deterred." Now we
fear that all our hopes will be dashei
to pieces on the rook of despair in
the bitter end,
Central Is "dullest" at the present
time, the farmers are all busy thii
beautiful weather, therefore, they
don't colloect in the "city."
We have nothing to interest or On
liven us but the occasional passing of
a "tramp," in the shape of a "corn..
doctor" or "slight-,of-hand juggler,"
which creates a little stir among the
"dead boats" about town. Such fol~
lows don't do much business hero, for
the people, instead of wanting corns
taken off, want corn brought in, and
as for slight of hand mea we have
plenty of men whom we would call
slight of hand,judging from the slight
amount of work they do. Perhaps
there will be something of interest to
write next time. We will finish by
saying-hurrah for Hamprton and
Tildon, whether they are elected or
