The Sheriff and his deputy are kept
busy serving papers, and Judge Cooke
will have a pretty heavy docket be
fore him at the March term of our
Court.
A new road from this place to
Liberty Station is being openod, which
is said to be much shorter than the
present one traveled and on much bet
terground. We always favor improve
ment.

Our friend Wady has erected a
new horse rack in front of his store,
and prepared a substantial "upping
block" for the ladies. He is always
mindful of the accommodation of his
lady customers, notwithstanding his
cosined bacholorism.

Capt. Berry. Special Agent, opocned
his books at this place. for the recep,
tion of the Hampton 10 per cent tax.
Owing to the delay in receiving the
books, no notice had boon given of the
collection, and Capt. B3orry opened
merely to make a bogining. There
were not many people in town and a
majority of those pre~sent did not
come prepared to pay, not knowing
they would have an opportunity to do
so. A very good beginning was made,
however, and Capt. Berry will return
to this place next Thursday and re,
main unti saturday evening. He will
also visit the various precincts, as will
be seen by his notice, publIshed else
whore in this issue, to which we direct
