Mr. Brooks, who lives near Easley Station,
a few nights ago, heard something in his
kitchen and went to see about it. Just as
b'e got to the door he met a Chamberlain
voter, of the colored pursuasion, coming out
with a piee' rf moat, and on calling on him to
atop. he made a "blue streak" through his
garden, demolishing the pailings wherever lie
struck them; but he forgot to drop the meat
and carried it clear home with him. The moon
was shining brightly and Mr. B. recognized
the Republican voter and had him arrested
next (day.
We 'would sugget that Eleily Station Club
act as nn escort to the' speakers fromt that
place to the Court Iouse on the 28th; andl
that the other clulis rendezvous somiewhe
on the road and join them, and form a grand
procession before they enter town. We

chief officers of eaich club will have a con,

firteen hundred people in attendance Sunday
and everything passed off quietly and pleas
antly. Rev WV. B. Singleton was the modera
rp and Rev. T. W. Toilescn Clerk. Mr. Tol
leson has promised us a condensed report of
the proceedings at an early day for publica
tion.

crously sudden descent from the sublime to
the ridiculous in a country church, not a
thousand miles off, when a clergyman, preach
ing on the miseries entailed by sin, suddenly
exclaimned, "Thank God, I am not a sufferer;

did it?" Thechange of tone started one of'
the deacons from a drowsy mnood,and spring,.
