Flu Patients Improving ?A- Program for Mooting-Other Items. ^Cone'ross, Dec. 18.--rSpoelal: Ow ing to the weather there was no Sun day school at Coneross on Sunday, lt had boen the purpose it the school to elect officers and teachers fdr tho coining year.vThe election will proba bly fake place next Sunday. So lot ?Very teacher and scholar como, and ' let us put in those. officers who will be best for our Sunday school for the year 1923. W. F, Haynes, who has been our superintendent for the past year, bas made' au enthusiastic' and efficient worker, and tho school bas boen successful under his leadership, and we feel that wo will do well to re-elopt him for the coming year. The children of this community are counting tho ddys until Christ inas, and we doubt not that this week will seem like a very long ono to 'thom as well as tho grown-up poople. The youngsters aro looking forward this year to the coming'of Old Santa In his flying machine. Miss Jessie Barker, who has been confined to her. homo for tho p^st week, ls ablo to take up her work as teacher at Blue Ringo again this morning. Miss Lucy Patterson, who has boen with bor sister, Mrs. Lostor Alexan der, here for a few months, left last "Wednesday for Ninety-Six. Stanley and Robert Morgan, of Plckens, were welcome guests of J. ?C. Barker last week. Mrs. L.'A. Cleland .and children, Morris and L. A., Jr., wore guests nt the homo of Henry Hesso and wife, recently. Miss Beulah Barker entertained last' Tuosday evening in honor of her Sunday school class tho Baracoas. A few guests out of tho community wero Miss Thomas, of Oak Grove; Stanley and Robert Morgan, of Plck ?ens, and Messrs. Elrod and J.S. Good man, of Clemson. Quite a number of our people have been suffering from tho influenza, for. the'past week or two. Among those are Mrs. E. C. DuBoso, Melton and Carl DuBoso, Victor McDonald Miiss Edna McDonald Mr. and Mrs. T. D. . Barker, Misses Lottie and Jessie Bar leer and Tbodo Ah' ott, Mrs. W. F. We aro glad to note that the patients are getting along nicely, and at present .no one ls seriously ill. Wo hopo that they will all Boon be up again. Tho regular meeting of the R. He ls suffering from an attack of appendicitis, and his phy sicians are expecting to operate this morning. We hope to hear encourag ing news from him soon, and that his operation will prove successful. Mrs. Hattie Alexander was a spend the-day guest of her sistor, Mrs. S.M. Gambrell, of Westminster, one day last week. Claude, the little son of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Alexander, who has been quite ill for tho past week, ls very much improved. . Mpss Nina Abbott, ot. Isaqueona, spent Saturday and Sunday with her homefolks here, and Miss Lena Ab bott, who is teaching at Salem, was a recent visitor, here. She was ac companied by several of her friends from Salem, among them being Mr. Murphy, principal of Salem . school, and Miss Pearle Chastain. Let everybody be present at Con eross at preaching next Saturday and Sunday at ll a. m. Mrs. Eulous Smith, of West Union, spent some time last week with her father, J. D. Abbott. Mrs. Julia Arve was a guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Rothell, of Toccoa, Ga., last week. Mrs. Mary Miurphy, of near West minster, made a short visit to rela tivos here last week. Owing to the bad woathor and to sickness in the community,, wo wore unable to hold our B.Y.P.U. meetings for tho past two Sunday nights. Wo wero expecting to hold our elections for officers next yoar. This will:prob- * ably take place at tho next B.Y.'P.U. meeting. Our present president, W. T. Alexander, is a very enthusiastic worker, and we will do wbl? to secure his services for the ensuing year.
