remains were taken to Anderson,
where they were Interred in Silver
Brook cemetery, after services con
ducted by Rev. .lohn B. White, pas
tor of the First. Baptist church of
Anderson, of which church Miss Wll

arrived In Walhalla last Saturday
and will spend some months in the
county visiting among relatives and
friends. Mr. Grogan for some years
has been working with a large beet
sugar relining company. The crop In
his section of California has now been
all worked up, and Mr. Grogan will
spend his between-season vacatjon in
his old home county. He reports
that tho growers this year realized I
good jirices for the raw beets and tho I
relined sugar. Ile ls employed in
the heart of the sugar-beet growing I
section, and refineries are located,!

Masters and M. H. Holland, of An

-The Walhalla High School was
forced to close last Monday morning
on account of lack of fuel. For some
time citizens have been unable to se
cure a pound of coal from any quar
ter, and Monday morning found the
U gh School coal-less and cold. The
situation was relieved at the school
by the Walhalla Cotton Mills and
11 et rick Hosiery .Mills each supplying
three tons of coal to the school. The
school reopened this morning.

Monday for her home In Savannah,
after having spent several weeks in
Walhalla with her mother. Mrs. L. R,
Van Di viere. Miss VanDiviere was
accompanied home by Mrs. Q, A.
Mercer, who had spent some time
here visiting Mrs. VanDiviere and
daughter. Mrs. VanDiviere expects
to leave for her Georgia home this
week. The time of her departure
will be determined by the home-com
ing of her son, Chas. L. VanDiviere,
who has just received a commission
as second lieutenant In the 2-Ith In
fantry, regular army. Mr. VanDi
viere recently completed the course
of training at the officers' camp at
Fort Oglothorpe.
