IX THE BOUNTY LAND SECTION.
Charming Entertainment in Honor of
Bride-Elect-Local Notes.
Bounty Land, July 2 7.-Special:
A. J. and D. Alexander Perritt, of
Bickens county, spent. Tuesday night
and Wednesday with their kinsman,
D. A. Perritt, of this community.
J. Russell Kennell, of Anderson,
spent Sunday wit I? relatives in the
eonununity.
.Mrs. J. Allen Dendy and children
and her sister, Mrs. Strom, of Ander
son, spent Saturday night with the
Misses Davis.
Mr. and Mrs. Math Davis, of nea/
Clemson, spent Sunday at the Davis
home, and were accompanied home
hy Misses Sai.ie and Julia Davis and
Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Davis, of Green
ville, who were ou a visit here.
We are reliably informed that
Jack Berry, of Seneca, has purchased
the Walton place from J. J. Ballen
ger and will occupy this magnificent
home in the near future. We gladly
welcome him and his into the vi
cinity.
Mrs. W. J. Lunney and sister, Mrs.
Floyd, and daughter. Miss Lillian
Floyd, Mrs. S. K. Dendy, Jr.. and
four children and Miss Sara DAVIS
picnicked in Jasper Doyle's pasture
last Wednesday afternoon. They
were joined by Mrs. Doyle and three
daughters. S'./imming in tho dam
was the most interesting feature of
tl.e ocasi?n.
A most enjoyable social function
of the past week was a miscellaneous
shower given Friday afternoon hy
Misses Cary Doyle and Lura Perritt
at the home of the latter in honor of
Miss Ora Bagwell, the bride-to-be.
The doors of this hospitable home
were thrown open at 4 o'clock to the
guests, who on arrival were seated
on the broad veranda and later were
ushered into the spacious parlor and
hall (the two being thrown together
for the occasion), where five tables
had been arranged, each to accommo
date four guests, and an interesting
progressive game was played. At the
close of the game it was announced
that four participants, viz., Misses
Ora Bagwell, Agnes Ellison, Inez
Grant and Suanee Daly, must draw
for the prize, which was a box of
candy, Miss Agnes being the winner.
Delicious cake and punch were
served, after which a leaflet 'was
given each guest, on which to write
a wish, a prophecy and advice to the
bride, and on the opposite page to
draw a photo of the groom. These
photos, by the way, furnished suffi
cient evidence that Bounty Land is
not one whit behind any other section
in the efficiency of her amateur ar
tists. While seated underneath a
largo suspended hell, reading these
prophesies, etc., to the audience, the
fair honoree was completely over
whelmed in a veritable cloud-burst
of shower gifts, which fell simulta
neously at her feet. The gifts were
both dainty and useful. The guests
were about 30 in number, and the
affair was a most enjoyable one.
Mrs. M. T. Hughs and Mrs. Cece
lia B. Fretwell, of Walhalla, were in
the community Friday.
Mrs. W. P. Reid, of Seneca, spent
Friday with her aunt, Mrs. John H.
Pickett.
Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Guntharp vis
4 tod their daughter, Mrs. W. II.
Moore, in the Shiloh section Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Gilstrap .of
