In Memoria..i On Tuesday, May ?10, at the homo of her parents at Richland, Oconee county, South Carolina, the beauti ful spirit of Marye lt. Sbelor passed "nto eternal rest. She was the leader a;>d Stato organizer of Sunshine work In South Carolina, and her Hie was a beautiful exemplification of this creed. Por years she devoted herself and tho best that was within her to this work. She was also greatly Interest ed In educational work, espeloally among tho rural districts; she saw the need of better school facilities and set about improving them, and the Rural School Improvement Asso elation was the outcome of her ef forts in this line, and is to-day a liv ing memorial to her energy and de votion to the children of her State She was a woman of lofty Ideals practical, broad and comprehensive Her heart was a well-spring of sym pathy toward her neighbors and God's lowly ones, and wherever and whenever her blessed heart dictated, her loving hands followed In their beautiful ministry to suffering and sorrowing humanity. The world is iii able to lose such a consecrated woman, and South Carolina will long mourn her losy. It is useless to reckon such lives as hers by years. She was In the prime of lovely womanhood and seemingly In the midst of her useful ness, and it ls hard to realize that her work is finished here. Perhaps that ls why she refused constantly to rest-working frantically as It seem ed to her friends, with never j thought of self. The dear Father who dooth all things well never makes a mistake and although she sleeps a little while, her work will go on, and she has left a far more lasting memory than mere gold In the hearts of those who loved her. and whom she de lighted to serve-the legacy of a noble and unselfish life well spent. And now for a little while, dear friend and co-worker, we bid thee a fond adieu. The wall between Ufo and death seems so thin that me thinks we can almost hear the flutter of angel wings; can almost, In the twilight, between sleep and waking, roach out and touch the hands of our departed ones. . There is no death; what seems so is transition; This life of mortal breath ls but a suburb cf the life elysian, j Whose portal we call death. She is not dead, this friend of our affection, But gone unto that school Where she no longer needs our pro tection, And Christ himself doth rule. Mrs. D. A. Russell, State Leader of Sunshine.
