REV. EPTING HAS RESIGNED.
Mis Resignation Will Take Effect on
Gio ?Otli of November.
lt will be learned with regret by
many that Rev. T. B. Eptlng, who
has served as pastor of St. John's
Lutheran church, Walhalla, for sev
eral years past, has tondored his
resignation to Jie congregation bore
and will take up other work about
tho first of December. There is no
discord in the church, and every
thing ls working harmoniously at
St. John'? church. Rev. Mr. Eptlng
has, however, been called to take
up mission work la the Synod of
Georgia and adjacont States, and he
fools that he can best serve tho
causes represented by the Lutheran
chu rob at large by transferring to
this widor field, which embraces a
phase of church work in which he
has been peculiarly successful-that
of organization and establishing new
congregations. Ills matu work will
be the organization of new congre
gations and building new churches.
This characteristic has boen domi
nant In the visible roslilts of his work
In Walhalla, ho having reorganized
the church hore and put on a basis
of constant and telling work for all
the causes represented by the church
at large. Among the things accom
plished during bis pastorate of St.
John's church of Walhalla bas boen
the covering of tho church building
with metal shingles, tho placing of
Brussels carpet in tho aisles and
chancel, painting ol' tho doors, the
purchase of new oak offering plates,
silk book markers, altar and com
munion linen, silver communion ser
vice, handsome hymn-boards and
pulpit chairs, new hymn and note
books; tho organization of tho cem
etery association, placing ol' tile walk
and front coping around the church,
yard. These things have already
boen accomplished, and other things
have been provided for, among thom
being eleven handsome opalescent,
art glass memorial windows, painting
of exterior of building, Bible and
book mark for leoturn, marble bap
tismal font and leeturn. These will
all bo "visible results" before Pastor
E|)tlng'8 resignation will have taken
effect. St. John's, under bis care, has
boon made a veritable "church at
AVOI'k."
Mr. and Mrs. Eptlng will move to
Brunswick, (in., about tho first of
December, at which place they will
make their homo for tho immediate
futuro al least. They will carry with
thom tho best wishes of many for
their every success lu (heir new field
of labor.
Don't Brenk Down.
Severe strains on the vital organs,
like strains on machinery, cause
break-downs. You can't over-tax
Stomach, livor, kidneys, bowels or
nerves without serious danger to
yourself. If you are weak or run
down, or under strain of any kind,
take Electric Bitters, the matchless
Ionic medicine. Mrs. J. 10. Van do
Sande, or Kirkland, ill., writes:
"That I did not break down, while
enduring a most severe strain, for
three months, is due wholly to Elec

health and strength. Satisfaction

On .lune I, 1910, when the last as

ance was levied, there wore In force
490 policies, covering $350,317 In
surance. On August 1st, 105 of theso
policyholders, representing $69,090
of insurance, bad not paid thc last
assessment and wore not protected In
Case of loss. Many others had paid
their assessment. In .Inly, and they
were unprotected after .Inly 1st until
the assessment was paid.
I recommend that tho fact of non
payment ol' assessment within 2 0
days after the levy relievos tho com
pany of liability bo emphasized in the
notice ol' assessment.
Tho system ol' collecting through
the banks in the various parts of the
county IP a great convenience to tho
policyholders. If addressed postal
cards wore loft with tho banks to be
mailed to the secretary, upon pay
ment of assessment, a safeguard
would bo added lo tho system.
Tho met bod of keeping your ac

Ibo Secretary and Treasurer giver, full
value for tho pay ho re?oives.
I am recommending to him a sys

details, hut which will add greatly to
tho ease of auditing, and which will
permit the moro ready tracing or er

Tho balance on hand August 4th,
1909, to some extent ls assumed, as
lt was impossible at that dato to de
termine tho exact balance because of
tho system In uso, and tho amount
given is tho result of tho balance of
receipts and disbursements since.
The balance of August 5, 1910. ls ab
solutely accurate, according to tho
bank pass books, which wore verified
by correspondence with the various
banks.
Your company is most economi

would scarcely bo able otherwise to
get insurance. Very truly,

Yet you may cough tomorrow! Belter be prepared for it
