Fai rey, a progressive and up-to-date far mer, residing at Rowesvllle, la this county, reports a yield of 141 bush els and 8 pounds by weight,,or 130 bushels and 10 quarts by measure, of corn, on one aero. The following data has been fur nished by Mr. Fairey as to his meth od of corn raising: Class of land, sandy loam. Prepa ration' of land: About the Hist of March live loads of stable manure and ono load of wood trash, together with OOO pounds of fert.lizor, was broadcasted. The land was broken up with three mules, 10 or 113 Inches deep. Subsoiled In same furrow, 4 lo 0 Inches dee)). Rows plowed out .1 10 3 % feet wide. Six hundred pounds of fertilizer sowed la each furrow and stirred Up, Cultivation: On March 0 corn sowed in water furrow. The last ol' .April corn thinned out from one inch to six inches in drill. Six hundred pounds ol' fertilizer pitt around corn and covered with two furrows. May 15, nao pounds of fertilizer and 200 pounds or soda, mixed, was put around corn and covered with two furrows. In June, 200 pounds of soda was broadcasted. July '1, 250 pounds of soda was broadcasted. Alter preparing the land lt took only lour furrows to make tho corn. The land was surveyed by export sur veyors and lound to bo 99-l00tl) of an acre. The fodder was not gath ered. Corn gathered from this totaled 10 1 barrels. One barrel was shelled and measured live peeks and two quarts. The same corn weighed 70 pounds. Tho fertilizer formula was: 000 pounds of cottonseed meal, DOO pounds Kalali salt, 800 pounds l l per cent acid, 050 pounds ot' nitrate ol' soda. This was tho cheapest corn Mr. Fairey raised on his place this sea son and the land was very ordinary. Sandy land without fertilizer would not have made over 1 o bushels to an acre. Tho above result shows what can bi? done with ordinary land.
