weeks of malarial fever. His father
went after him last week and brought
him home, where he is getting along
nicely, and will soon bo abb; to resume

car line in Anderson. Mr. Watkins is a
young man of much promise, having
plenty of nativo talent, push ami energy.

jovial than our vonerablo friend, Wm.
Welsh, of Mountain Kost. He is in
his 07th yoar, and rode horseback from
his home, somo fourteen milos from Wal
halla, roaching here frosh and as chipper
as any man 50 yours his junior. He was
born in Queen's county, Ireland, in 1808,
and came to this section nt tho begin
ning of tho work on the old Pino Ridgo
tunnel. He is a lino old gentleman, with !

Lucian B. Hornaday was fatally stab
bed by his brother, D. Roscoe Horuadaj ,
near Gibsonvillo, N. C., about ll o'clock
Sunday night. Death resulted in fifteen
minutes. The slayer gave himself up
and is in jail at Greensboro. The mon,
while going home from a neighbor's, en
gaged in a quarrel which brought on a
fight. _
Wofford Student Leaves College.
Spartanburg, November 27.- Hugh
Creighton, a student of Wofford Colloge,
disappeared from this oity Saturday
night. The young man's fat her, Rev. C.
W. Creighton, of Greenwood, oditor of
the Christian Appeal, is hore to-day
making inquiries, but has found nothing
to indicato whoro the young man is
likely to have gono. The boy is seven
teen, has light hair, dolicato features,
tall, slightly stooped and was last seen
wearing a gray suit. Tho polico are re
quested to look out for bira and if found
to notify his fathor at Groonwood. Tho
