Kdgerton, tho secretary, has been gi vin out by the People's Party National Committee: bryan will he elected; he has lost none of tho support he had in 18H0, except a few silver Republicans in tho mountain States. Of these there will not he enough to etVect a single oloo'oral vote. Ho will hold bis own west of the Mississippi and will carry every State in that region that he carried in IS'.Ui, with thc possible exception of Wyoming. Tho following States may be classed as certain to cast their electoral vote foi lilyan: Alabama, ll: Arkansas, S; Col, ratio, 4: Florida, I; Georgia, bi; Idaho, :5; Louisiana, s; Mississippi, 0; Missouri, 17; Montana, :'.; Nebraska, S; Nevada, .'!; North Carolina, ll; South ('andina, U Tennessee, 12; Texas, 1">; Utah, .'!; Vii ginia, 12. Total, 15.'}. Added to these ni'O tho following States that will probably cast their vote for bryan: Illinois, 21; Indiana, 15; Kansas, lt); Kentucky, Ri; Maryland, 8; South Dakota, I; Washington, I; West Vir ginia, ii. Total, SI. These, added to tho i.V. certain, give 2'17, or more than majority in the ol?elo ral college. Outside of these certain and probable States are tho following doubtful. Cali fornia, Oj Connecticut, t>: Delaware, Sj Michigan, l l; Minnesota, !.; New Jersey, lt); Now York, !10: North Dakota, :'.; Ohio, 2-i; Wisconsin, 12; Wyoming, :i. Total, 128. Of these, Minnesota, New York and Ohio can all bc classed as very uncertain for the Republican candidate; in fact, were it not (hat McKinley lives in Ohio, tho StatO could be considered as almost a certainty for lilyan. In 1808 Illinois gave the Republicans a majority of only a little over kl,000, with practically a break even in Cook county, lt is now generally conceded that bryan will carry Cook county by a good ma jority. Twenty two thousand ill Chicago would give lilyan Illinois, provided tho rest of the State went as it did in 1808, but, thoi'O is every indication that wo are making gains in the country districts and thal Chicago will give moro than this majority to the Democratic candi date. The same condition which prevails in Uli .ois also holds in Indiana, where there is milch .smaller majority to over come. Kansas will go for lilyan by about the same majority it gave him in 18011. Tho Republicans are making a hard light for that State, but they will fail. This is a populistie year in Kansas. Kentucky and Maryland are practi cally sure for lilyan. In South Dakota our forces are splen didly organized and aro making tho best tight ever made in Hu- State. They are con lid ont of thc result. In Washington wo will win with nearly tho samo plurality as in 1800. The Con ditions willoh prevail in the othel coast States ?lo not particularly affect Wash ington. In West Virginia we are making gains constantly. While McKinley carried that Stat?; by over 11,ut io in 1800, the Republi can Congressional candidatos only had about 2,500 in 1808. Thosnmoconditions which will give us Kentucky ami Mary land will also land West Virginia for the reform candidato. Feelings of safety pervade the. house hold that uses One Minute ('?nigh ('ure, the only harmless remedy that produces immediate results, lt. is infallible for coughs, colds, eroii]> and all throat and lung troubles, lt will prevent consump tion. .1. W. Hell. Bryan Must Win. New York has gone Democratic ovory alternate presidential election since 1804, and this year it is her time to tall in lim1 with thc party of thc people. Indiana has ?lone thc sam?' thing since IS72, and this is also her Democratic year. Illinois has recently shown indications ol' alter nating, and if she keeps the same gait she will also be in (he Democratic col umn. Kentucky, which is called a doubtful State by thc Republicans, has never gone Republican, though she di vided hor electoral ticket in Ism-., giving th?! Democrats ono out td* thirteen votes. California has been .splitting her vote ot' recent, years, giving tin; Democrats the majority except in 1800. Nt .v .lcr>cy has gone Republican only twice sine?' 180-1, once in 187- and again in I SOO. lt looks from this tallie very mindi as if this is a Ilomocratic year. Colton Mills in thc South. Reports ?d'cotton mill industry for thc year eliding August :ll indicate the con tinued rapid growth ol' that business in the South. Li that year the northern mills purchased 2,00il,()00 bales, against 2,027,000 in 1801, t he soul hern mills took 1,507,000 bales, against Col,ono in 1801. This is a most encouraging exhibit for thc south, and is calculated to cause grave fears among th?; northern mill owners for the stability of their business. Moreover, the growth is noted daily. Last year thc South put in op?ration 800,000 new spindles, ami I,-118,000 more aro now in course of const i notion, li is claimed, in view ot the statistics, that within the next I w el vc mont hs I he Sont h will manufacturo as much colton as tho North.
