Two mon died from boat and many
horses. At Chicago, twenty poisons

points in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and
Wisconsin the heat was insufferable, and
a largo number of deaths, Tho ther

20th, there woro twenty deaths at Chicago

nati.
On last Saturday night, about, eleven
o'clock, Lewis R. Redmond, the notorious
moonshiner, stabbed James Smith in tho
right breast, iullicting a sorlous wound.
Thoy woro at a cortain house in Walhalla
and drinking moro or less. Soon after
tho cutting, Smith wont for a doctor,
and Redmond wont homo. Smith bled
freely, and by roason of his walking over
a quarter of a inilo boforo receiving
medical attontion, ho lost a great deal of
blood. Dr. W. J. Branilott dressed his
wound and has boon giving him all tho
attontion possible Ho Is in a critical
condition, but. hopes arc ontoi'tained of
ids recovery. Redmond was arrostod by
Sheriff Moss at Ids home, about tbrco
miles front town, early Sunday morning.
