ing facts in relation lo the life of
this good man. When Col. Calhoun
was taken sick he said that he was
ready 'ono when. '\er called upon; ,
that he hail already lived long be
yond the allotted lime; thal he was
tired ami wanted to go.
The mar relative- of Col. Cal
houn were present at Iiis death, and
the mani festal ion of grief by his
old servants and tenants was re-j
markable for -inecritv and affection.
These devoted people attended as
pall bearers ami followed the body
of their old friend to the depot, ami
parted with the remains with every
manifestation of sorrow. The bod\
was transported b\ rail lo IVmlle
lon, thence l<? the Episcopal church, I
n here l?ev. Mr. I hidsdeu read the
funeral services. The deceased was;
