The Rev. J. B, MACK, D. D., bas been on a
visit to our town. He preached a series of sov
en sermons in thc Presbyterian church. The
last of tho series was proached'on Monday even
ing last. Dr Maok is emphatically aa evangel
ical preacher. Ho preaches in great plainness
tho unadulterated gospel. There is no learned
elaborateness nor fine spun metaphysical no?

huions, and yet bis preaching is earnest, elo
quent and ornate. Earnestness seen ia tho
manifest desire of the preacher to make every
bearer seo the way of salvation, eloquenoe in
the persuasiveness of manner aud speech to
