MESSRS. EDITONS: This morning I finished
tlie field work of tlio census in Keowco Town
ship, I beg leavo through your emu nt us to
return thanks to tho citizens of Keowco for
their kindness in giving information and
assisting mo in finding tho farms nnd dwol?
lings of tho citizens of tho township. I was
entertained very sumptuously without money
and without prico. Tho oath of un enumera
tor binds him to secrecy or I could givo to
your renders somo very interesting statistical
information. Tho number of inhabitants
enumerated in tho township is 1,848.

I was on near 300 farms. I found cotton
looking well. Corn is looking well except
on low bottom lands, tho hud worm having
destroyed acres of corn. Somo planters in
formed me that they bad planted livo times
unsuccessfully. Ono planter informed mo
that b i had planted fire bushels of seed corn
oh twenty acres and yet bad no stand of
corn. When I left him ho was transplanting
corn, lie said ho would try that plan.
Corn and colton aro beginning to need rain.
1 think there is at least ten per cent, more
cotton planted this year than last year in
this township, which I fear will lead to many
empty cnn cribs by tho first day of June
next year. Tho wheat crop is about a failure.
In most cases oats are about a failure. Fruit
is very scarce. I did not see n single peach.
A fow orchards have apples. I found all tho
farmers very busy battling with Cen. Creon

gross receipts from Internal Revenue for
the fiscal year ending Juno 30, estimating

ty, on Thursday, four young men going
