Engineer Askew, of Wheeling, on tho Hast bound train and his fireman, tho fireman of the West bound train and a tramp were killed. An other tramp and a postal clerk were seriously injured. Several passengers were slightly injured. Both engines were totally wrecked and the most of thc cars badly damaged. GALVESTON, October 12.-A Kiews special from Dallas reports that tho cabin of a negro woman named Esther, on Mr. Aldridge's plantation, was visited yestciday morning by a band of forty disguised men, who demanded her eon Charley. Tho demand not being complied with, thc door of thc house was fired into, resulting in tho wounding of a girl in thc head. A freedman, who wns in? side, then fired on tho attacking party, wound ?ng one of them. At this juneturo tho door was forced open, and Esther and her family, with a negro from a neighboring cabin, wcro carried away, several other negroes escaping. Tho closing act was tho murder of Esther and her son Charley, both being riddled with boekshot. Several arrests Imo been made, and others aro to follow. DETROIT, October, 10.-The Pacifie ex press, which left hero on the Michigan Cen tral Railroad forty minutes late, collided with a switch engine on the tho main track at 1 o'clock this morning, telescoping tho bnggngo und express cars and piling cloven coaches on top of each other. Tho first coach was tilled Willi emigrants, most of whom were killed or seriously injured. Many of thc occupants of the oilier couches were also killed or injured.
