young man of our town had carelessly lost a

Rev. George Dushyhead, second Chief of tho
Cherokee Indians, of Quatia Town, North Caro
lina, -was in town this week. Mr. Welsh is the
Chief of these Indians. There are about fifteen
hundred Cherokees ia North Carolina. Bushy,
hood says the Government don't pay them any
thing now and tkoy have to work for a living.

Capt. F. Wiebens, ono of tho oldest Gorman
citizens, died of lingering disease on Monday

his health would permit. Tho heart of Capt.
Wiebens was largo and in the right placo.
Ho suffered for months, but died calmly and
peacefully. Tho funeral service and burial
