by that State to support troops engaged

Mr. Butler introduced a bill to
change the times of holding the criminal
court of the District of Columbia.
Mr. Gwin introduced a resolution
directing an inquiry into the expediency
of increasing the salaries of the
Judges of the Northern and Southern
districts of California.
Mr. //ale moved to amend by inserting
vand the salary of the district
Judge in New '.Hampshire,' which
was agreed to, and t e resolution
was agreed to.

which objection was made on a point

Mr. McLane gave notice that he
would be ready next week to present
the river and harbor hill, revised to
meet the estimates of the present
year. He< hoped the committee
would lay aside all the hills in the calendar

bill; after which he would ask them
* to take up the river and harbor hill.
After several ineffectual motions to
take up particular bills, the committee
