Tho summing up of the new eases of '

the deaths to 40, was attributed to the
supposition that many of these coses had
occurred on Suuday, but were not reported
until Monday. During the 24 hours
up to noon to-day, however, the Board of
Health report 111 new cases, and 44
deaths, all of which have, no doubt, actually
occurred within the period specified.
This sudden increase is starting our citizens
oft' in every direction in pursuit of
more healthy lrcations.

Mrs. Copeland was born in Pendleton
(now Piokens) District, S. C., 20th of
March, 1822. In 1840, with her parents,
Albert and Susannnh Robins, emigrated
to this county. She professed reigion

lerself to the Cumberland Presbyterian
3hurch. She was married to Mr. Cope
and March the l(Jth, 184*7. During a
ong niul painful illness the deceased
nanifested great fortitude. And when
ully sensible of her approaching dissoution,

onntenance; her confidence in the goodicss
of God, and particularly the melo
ly of her voice, as sho spoke of her
