The Romans are determined to resist

have raised an Army of eighty thousand
men to meet the invaders.

Hungarian affairs present no new feature*

At Frankfort, the Parliament are form'
ing a Government on the model of that

In Mr?. Maury's "Statesmen of America
in 1846." ?he introduces into her hiography
of Mr. Calhoun, the following remarks:

"On the 6th instant the first party bound
for California poased this post, and since
that date a constant stream of emigration
has been setting in that direction. Up

Thin is but the beginning. Over five
thousand wujons and twenty-five thousand
men witl attempt to reach California
this season by this route."

Southern States to advance the Mechanic
Arts, by means of annual Fairs simitar to
those that proved so beneficial to the
Northern Meohanics, the Board of Managers
earnestly solicit the co-operation of
all who feel an interest in the prosperity of

Manufacturer, nnd nil persons engaged
in pursuits of skill and industry of whatever
description, to send some specimen
to this Exhibition, and they hope that
every distriot in this State and of our
