A meeting of the County Executive
Committee was held last Monday
morning.
Mr. Thos. B. Chalmers was admitted
as the member from No. 2 Township.
and Mr. Chas. P. Dickert from No. 1.
The Committee decided that the

elections will be governed by the
rul that prevailed in 1882.
TheState Normal Institute,
Will be held at Spartanburg, begin
ing July 15, and ending Aug. 15, with
a competent corps of instructors.
In addition to the regular course of
Instruction, lectures or addresses may
be expected from distinguished speak
er's,
All the exercisos of the Institute, ia.
eluding attendance upon lectures, etc.,
will be free of charge Teachers and
citizens ofSouthCarolina, and of other
States, are cordially invited to attend.
This Institute is held under authority
of State law, and is authorized to eon
ter Certificates, qualifying persons to
hold positions as teachers in this State
for one, two or three years, without
farther examination; and also, on the
completion of a three years' course, a
Normal Diploma exempting the holder
from further examination during life.
The.CQurse of Instruction covers all
the subjecs req4ire4 by the echooI
Law of this State, and is adapted to
the most important wants of tetaher'
equally in public and in private
chorols. The examinations at the
close of the course are offered equally
to all. These examinations are volun
tary; but an attendance of three weeks

or any part of the course.

for the reception and accommodation

La-t Friday was a gala day for
oandidat:, who turned out in full
foree. This seems to be an excel
lent place for barbecues. Speeches
were made hy those who are run
ning for Senate and House. Hnl.
J. A. Sligh was called for and was
cherred repeatedly while speaking.
Mr. Mills made quite a hit when he
selected the glorious 4th, and this
place for his "cue." The dinner
was served in the suherbes o' the
town. Every thing passed of quiet
ly and all went home satisfied.

partments.
(Our candidates have, it seems,
lost sight of the subject of Trial
Justice Courts. The Trial Justice
system should be revised, or
remodeled, or abolished. It is
of more serious concern than
the University question, or consid
erions growing ott of' the Colum
bia canal anid the phosphate royal
ty. Wise legislation on this sub
ject would distinguishm its author,
