Bank of Newberry, which is 'ne of the
stiongest Banks in the up country. It
owes its success to the skillful manage
ment of its efficient-offieers.

ths, W. W. -Waldrop met with a
painful accident on Friday. She acci
dentsl&fell off the front piazza of her
residence and broke her leg just below
the kn~ee. -At the last accounts she was
doing as well as could be expected? but
suffered a good deal. Mr. Waldrop,
who ha4bis.hand cut by a thresher a
week'or so ago, is still confined to his
bed,apd so both husband and wife are
strickea down together.

Mr. Hawkins, of the Beth Eden neigh

Mr. Sampson Merchant, living near
'Relena, reports the loss of a large quan
tity of Irish potatoes;
How much more of this kind of work
has been done we know not-no other
reports being made. This is only the
4eginning-the heavy campaign is not
yet commenced.
A haalthier conditionin the chicken
marke is reported, the supply last week
was moderately good, and about every
other man was enabled to indulge in a
fry or pie. It is our opinion that the
only legitimate way of preparing chick
ren is a nice, -brown fi'.
Mr. White's dug out has been ex
'tended. It -is his intention to change
the order of things by making the spring
pay him. He is right, he has been pay
ing out long enough.
The song of a musquito has been
heard in Newberry, but whether it has
presented its bill is not known. It was
broughiup from Charleston by one of
the Centennial girls in her pin back.
