Tim FR0ST.-The severe frost that
oceUMred last week has caused much
daLmage to the farmiers. Ini ma ny place
the cotton has beel so badly bitten that
replaiting is necessary, and to add tc
this misfortune many have not the seed
with which to replnt. and will have to
borrow, buy, or plant grain. After :dl
though, this misfortune may be a bless
ing in disguise, as it may force to the
planting of less cotton and more grain,
at wilich proper conclusion the mrLided
will of the farmer is slow in arriving.

wheat crops have been badly damaged.
With the exception of slight damlage to
Crapes and raspberries, the frait evor
is still promising.

petitions to friends in different sections

as Blackjack gives'li a lint occasionally,
Hardscrabble is heard from through
our esteemed contributor, Ilezekiah,
while Prosperity is in almost weekly
communication. We are rejoiced at

is but no less strange than true. Well
do we remember before the - market
house was built, how liberally we were
supplied with meat; at every corner I
stood a cart; and besides there were
several street stalls: but as soon as that 1
elegant, convenient and commodious
structure was raised, becef grew scaree.
No, we don't want any more good
butchers. Send us one who makes no
pre0:enions to goodlness and we will
not object, what is most neceded, how
ever, is beef, good beef. 1
