A GOOD FERTILIZER..,
Farmers generally have to pay
a high price' for an article who.,
with a little skill, they could make
themselves during the winter
months or on rainy days, when they
have little else to do. We give a
recipe for a cheap, good fertilizer,
which has been used successfully
by farmers in Pennsylvaria and
Ohio. One recommends- it espe
cially for potatoes and wheat, aind
ends by saying that he has used it
*ith success on corn and other pro
ducts. t is as follows iT e
1,000 pounds of good mold, sieve
and screen it to get the gravef out
and iake it as fine as possible, then
spread on a floor or some suitable
place; add 100 pounds sulphate of
ammonia, 100 pounds common salt,
then ix with a rake. When thor
oughly mixed, add 25 pounds of
pearl-ash, and 25 pounds of phos.
